When Steeve was a young adult, his parents — members of Jehovah's Witnesses — isolated him from the rest of the world before abruptly throwing him out on the streets. Today, he is still there. This unconventional barber lives and works out of his van, named HOMLES, which he parks here and there — sometimes more or less legally — in and around Montreal. His clients and friends gather around it, forming a community in his image: musicians, skaters, punks, and other outsiders who populate his daily life of freedom and wandering, bad luck and gratitude. A portrait of a resolutely free nonconformist, HOMLES speaks to resilience and one individual's quest — a former member of a religious cult — and offers a meditation on uprootedness, rupture, and nomadism.
