With a bach­e­lor’s degree in psy­chol­o­gy and trained in film at the École Supérieure de Réal­i­sa­tion Audio­vi­suelle in Paris, Annie Deniel moved to Mon­tre­al in the ear­ly 2000s. For more than twen­ty years, she has been involved in film­mak­ing, col­lab­o­rat­ing on the edit­ing of auteur doc­u­men­taries for renowned pro­duc­tion com­pa­nies such as Infor­mA­c­tion and Intu­itive Pic­tures, as well as fic­tion series with Amal­ga Pro­duc­tion and Encore Pro­duc­tion.
In par­al­lel with her work as an edi­tor, she made her first film, J’su­is toute mêlée, in 2007, which was broad­cast on TV5, fol­lowed by Place de l’élé­gance, Le Voy­age du sol­dat, Print Time, Steam­punk Con­nec­tion, and a series of short doc­u­men­taries on men­tal health and immi­gra­tion. Her works have been pre­sent­ed at numer­ous inter­na­tion­al fes­ti­vals.
Pas­sion­ate about both small sto­ries and big his­to­ry, Annie Deniel seeks to con­vey them through inti­mate and inno­v­a­tive forms that deeply touch the view­er and invite reflection.
