Simon Garez

Simon Garez is an actor and direc­tor who works in film and the­atre. Raised in Saskatchewan, he holds a BFA in the­atre from Simon Fras­er Uni­ver­si­ty and a diplo­ma in act­ing from the Van­cou­ver Insti­tute of Media Arts. His direc­to­r­i­al debut, Torch Nar­rows, pre­miered in 2021 and won the SIFA for Best Short Film. His sec­ond short, Gen­tle Hum of Spring, pre­miered at the 2022 FIN Atlantic Inter­na­tion­al Film Fes­ti­val and is cur­rent­ly on the inter­na­tion­al fes­ti­val cir­cuit. His work exam­ines themes of rur­al life and human­i­ty’s inter­ac­tiv­i­ty to its eco­log­i­cal envi­ron­ment. Along­side his art prac­tice, Simon works with bees and hon­ey production.
